Week 7, Day 2

Couldn't do it today. I tried, I got up, dressed, stretched, did my walk and started to run. I couldn't even go past 10 minutes. I think I was tired and hot. I saw the light at the end of the mile long road and said to myself that I would just run ONE mile today. Nope, couldn't even make it that far. I am going to try tonight if it cools down before it gets too dark. Perhaps running on daily fuels will help me. If not, I will repeat week 7.

Week 7, Day 1

Well, today I couldn't make it my full 25 minutes. I ran for 20 minutes and could barely lift my feet. I decided to walk the rest of the way so I wouldn't fall over and hurt myself. Hopefully Tuesday will be easier and I will make it. I don't really consider this a failure as I am at least out there doing something.

Today consists of lots of studying and pulling weeds. The weeds will have to wait until around 7:30-8:00 as it has been WAY too hot to go out during the daytime hours. Right now it is 76 degrees and it isn't even 7:00!

I know my posts have been pretty boring with no pictures but I haven't taken any lately. SORRY!

Week 6 DONE!

Another week closer to the end of my Couch to 5K plan. Todays run was tiring....25 minutes. Although I think my walk home was harder and longer. I never know where to run to and then turn around to head back. Today I went yet another different way and I don't think I liked it. I do like that with running you can just leave your house and go...however, I wish there was a trail close by that I could run on. Perhaps there is and I don't know it yet. Week 7 consists of 3 days of running 25 minutes. YUCK YUCK YUCK!!! I must say I am proud of myself for sticking to it. I hope I continue to run even after my 9 weeks are over.

I found this on two of my friends blogs, Nikki and Kim. So I decided to find out what flavor I was too.

You Are Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

You are kind, popular, and generous.
You tend to be successful at anything you try.
A social butterfly, you are great at entertaining a crowd.

You are most compatible with strawberry ice cream.

A little update on Cameron and the orthodontist, he does have to get headgear. I can't believe how excited he was when the doctor told him the news. Right now he has spacers in place to get his teeth ready for the cementing of the bands on his molars. On August 7th we get to go in and get the goods. The orthodontist said it will be 1-1.5 years that he has to wear it. For right now he will only have to wear it while sleeping, but if it doesn't go as planned we will have to up the amount of time. He said he will not have to wear it to school...thank goodness!

Today's agenda:
Shower
WW weigh-in
Read last chapter in Nutrition
Take last chapter test
Take nutrition final
Start my research paper for nutrition
Study microbiology
Clean house

I can't believe I only have 2 weeks left of summer semester. I have 2 papers to write for nutrition and a final draft for my microbiology paper left to do. I must get crackin'! Fall semester starts on August 22nd. I am not looking forward to it at all. I am going to be busy and pulling my hair out trying to understand Chemistry. I will probably spend a LOT less time on the computer when that semester starts.

I had to go buy new scrubs yesterday. I put on one of my tops yesterday and it just looked and felt HUGE so I found one that I never wear because it was a little snug before and wore it. It was loose on me, but it looked good. Well, as good as scrubs can look anyway. I bought 4 new sets of them yesterday. I am going to be happy that I am no longer having to keep pulling my pants up and swimming in my shirts.

Well, off to start my day. Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

Week 6, Day 2

I survived another day on the Couch to 5K program. Friday is my last day of week 6 and it is 25 minutes of running. I managed to make my way through 20 minutes, what's another 5? I think I have decided to run in the Break Free run in September. I have a a little over 2 months until the actual day so I should be able to increase my speed too. I really need to head to the track and find out how long it takes me to run a mile.

Today I have a nail appointment and Cameron has an orthodontist appointment. We are going to see what treatment he needs. At our first visit for records he said he may need headgear. Cameron really wants it for some reason. I even showed him what it looks like and he still wanted it. If the DDS does decide he needs it we will most likely put the spacers in today and get his teeth ready for the bands they put on for the headgear. FUN FUN!

When we get home I just get to study and write a paper. Doesn't that sound like even more fun?!

Week 6, Day 1

Another day come and gone. Today was a bit hard. I think it was just the heat, it was probably 75 or a bit higher at 5:45 when I started. The runs were actually only 5 and 8 minutes so I can't complain about those.

Well today I have a few things to accomplish....nothing too fun or exciting.
Read a chapter in Nutrition
Take a chapter test
Study for Microbiology quiz
Plan menus
Grocery shop
Laundry

That's about it for today. No new pictures to share.

Week 5 DONE!!

Well, I did it. I ran for 20 minutes straight and I am still alive to tell about it! YAY ME! There were a few times I wanted to stop and walk for a bit, but I pushed myself and kept on going. I will not say it was easy, but it was easier than I thought it was going to be. I start intervals again on Sunday and by weeks end I will be running 25 minutes. Then week 7 will have me running 25 minutes all 3 days. YIKES...or would that be triple YIKES?!

Not much going on today. Have my WI, but I am sure it will be up due to the water I drank this morning. However, I am not going to let that get me down as I know I am doing good. After my WI, I will be coming home and cleaning before I start studying.

Michelle asked what my major is...for those of you that don't already know, I am going into Dental Hygiene. I will be applying in the spring.

So, todays agenda is the following:
WW Weigh-In
Vacuum
Mop
Dust
General picking up
Laundry
Clean all bathrooms
Read 2 chapters nutrition
Take 2 chapter tests
Read 1 chapter microbiology
Study for Monday's quiz
Fix dinner

Cameron will be helping with the housework so it won't be too bad. I don't like to study with a messy house and I am always thinking about all the little microorganisms that are on the toilets while I am trying to study. Not fun!

Week 5, Day 2

Well, I survived another day of running. Today was two 8 minute runs with a 5 minute walk in between. Friday I do my first 20 minute run. I thought that last 8 minute interval was about to do me in. I forgot my knee strap and could feel the difference. I don't want to forget it on Friday.

Today I am heading to the doctor for my yearly visit and getting my cholesterol checked. I am hoping it is down from last year as they wanted to put me on meds, but I didn't want them to. I said I would work on things and starting in February I finally did start working on it. My blood pressure has gone down already so I think the cholesterol should have too.

I got my microbiology test back last night. Not good! I got a 78, which is a C+. Fortunately she drops one test score...I just HAVE to do better on the next one. The average was 75 so at least I did better than average!

Photos

I took Cameron out to Gardner Village today to try out my camera for a little photo shoot. Here are a few of them.

We took over 100 photos today. He was ready to go home way before I was. I am working on getting a Flickr account to make it easier to just send people there to look rather than upload them all here.

Week 5, Day 1

Another day down. Today was easier than I thought. It consisted of 3 intervals of 5 minutes running with 3 minutes walking. I wasn't even dying at the end of the last 5 minutes. One more run and I am then doing my first 20 minute run. I don't think I have EVER ran for 20 minutes in my life. I think the most I have ever run is 12-15 and that was almost 20 years ago!

Yesterday we ventured to the new Ikea. We were looking at cabinets for the laundry room. I found some I liked, but then we went to Home Depot and they have some pretty similar to our kitchen and bathroom cabinets. I think we will probably go with those so things match. We're thinking of putting 2 cabinets over the washer/dryer and also putting just a countertop behind the door with no cabinets under it.

Today I need to work on a peer review paper for a classmate and start my diabetes research paper. I pretty much know what I am going to write I just need to put it together. All of my work for my nutrition class needs to be completed by August 2nd. I still have 4 chapter tests, a final and two papers to write. In my microbiology class I need to write my final draft of my journal article summary. I will be getting my peer review for it back on Wednesday so I will then be able to finish it up.

Well, off to do some reading and working.

Week 4 DONE!

Another week over and done. I am so happy that I have stuck with the Couch to 5K program. It is totally do-able. YIKES!!! I just looked at next week and they think I will be running 20 minutes straight by the last day. How in the world do they think I can go from 5 minute stretches to 20?! Crazy people! I'm going to be super sweaty and I hate to sweat! YUCK!

Shannon and her family came over to celebrate the 4th with us. It was great to see them. The kids had a blast. BTW Shannon, Kaitlyn left her gameboy case and Aidan's gameboy here. I will try to bring it by today while I am out with my mom

Today is my 35th birthday. Where does the time go? I feel like just yesterday I was in high school. Ok, maybe not yesterday as I was feeling my age, but you know what I mean. I can't believe my baby will be 8 this year.

I am going to take Cameron to the rec center today. They have outdoor swimming for the Kid Sport program today so he really wants to go. After I drop him off I am taking my mom to Tai Pan Trading.

My parents are taking off to head back home tomorrow. It has been great to visit and spend time with them. I don't know when we will see them again. I really want to stay here for Christmas this year. People can always come visit us instead. I do love going home for the Holiday, but it is also a pretty hectic time driving all over to make sure we see everyone. IF everyone still lived close to eachother it wouldn't be that bad.

Well, off to get ready for the day. Have a great one!

Week 4, Day 2

I got to test out my new running shoes today. They worked out great. My parents bought them for me for my birthday. Holy heck...$120 for running shoes?! They say the shoes should get 350-400 miles...estimated to need new ones in January if I keep to only 10-12 miles per week. I am actually hoping I can up the mileage per week. They also bought me a knee strap. It's supposed to help with any pain during running. I think it did help, but them my other knee started hurting. Perhaps turning 35 wasn't the time to take up running...I'm getting all the old aches and pains.

Todays run was ok. I went a different way today and I think it turned out perfect. I only had to pass my street a little bit to make up the time, but it then gave me a little more time for my cool down walk.

We are going to see Transformers today. Cameron and Michael have been waiting for this day for MONTHS. Hope it isn't too bad for Cameron. It looks too loud for me, but we shall see.

Here is a picture of my parents and I when we got out at Echo reservoir to stretch and look at all the boats. Don't mind the windblown hair.
This is Cameron and his principal on the last day of school. At the beginning of the year we got to know her pretty much on a first name basis. I am happy to say that things got better.Even 7 year olds need naps. This is Cameron waiting for my parents to arrive after school. He kept asking when they were going to get here and eventually he just fell asleep while waiting.Yesterday after Kid Sport (a function that the rec center offers for kids off-track), Cameron, mom and I went to Deseret Industries (like the Goodwill) to look for books. Every time mom comes out she buys about 30 books to take back to Washington. Then when she comes out here again she brings them back and I either keep them or post them at Paperback Swap. She probably got about 17 books yesterday. We have 2 other DI's to hit before they go home on Friday. I think we will go today after the movies.

I decided to look for some roller blades for Cameron while we were at the DI. He has been wanting some for awhile, but I didn't want to pay a lot for them when I didn't think he would really wear them that often. I found a great pair of almost new looking ones at the last DI we went to...and for $8, I couldn't pass them up. He was SOOO excited to see what I had found. When we got home he put them on right away and then wanted to take them to his friends house to show him. I told him he could walk them over there and then put them on. I had to leave for school while Cameron was over there and I when I drove past the house Cameron and his friends sister were on their roller blades. I called home after school and Cameron answered. He told me that Summer had given him lessons on how to use his blades. Of course he showed me all he learned when I got home. I have some pictures I can share, but right now my computer is downstairs and my printer that has the card slots on it is upstairs.

Week 4, Day 1

I did it! I ran for 5 minutes straight during my intervals today. It wasn't really that hard except for my knee hurting. The last 5 minutes I stopped thinking about my knee and did a little better. I was also going downhill so it made it easier too. My knee hurts pretty good right now. I am going to go ice it in a few minutes.

My parents arrived on Friday afternoon. Yesterday we took a drive out to Wyoming to see one of Michael's stores and buy some fireworks. FUN FUN! Today we are going to Costco so I can buy meat and stuff. I don't have a membership any longer so when my parents come out we go. I just opened my last jar of peanut butter from the last time they were out. I am almost out of garbage bags too. It takes me forever to use the stuff from costco.

I have to take my exam on Monday night and just can't get into the studying. I have tried, albeit not very hard considering I have done it in the family room with the tv on. Today I am going to hang out on my computer and type up my notes. That has always helped me before.

Cameron enjoyed his last day of school. They played board games most of the morning and had a pizza party before going home. We got a picture of Cameron with his teacher and one with the principal. I figured I should put her in his scrapbook as well since we were on a first name basis with her near the start of the year. I do have the pics, but my camera is downstairs and I will not feel like walking back up them just to post pics.
