Two weeks in review

Cameron and I went to Lagoon on that Friday. I'm sorry to report that Cameron did NOT go on the Wicked ride. I did and it was WAY fun. Cameron did hang out in line freaking out the entire time and then when we got to the front and ready to get on he didn't want to go. He ended up walking across the seats to get to the other side and get off. He was waiting for me and our friends when we got off. He was crying and told me that he let me down because he didn't go on it. Poor kid! I didn't feel let down, but I really did think he was going to go on.

The day after Lagoon we went up Millcreek Canyon to spend the day. It was a beautiful day and a fun time was spent by all. It was sort of a company picnic day. We got there around 1:00 and everyone else showed up around 5:30-6:00. We stayed until around 9:00 or so and were very tired when we got home. Cameron had a lot of fun playing in the creek getting all wet and dirty. I had never been up the canyon except to have dinner at some lodge so I didn't know there would be water to play in and did not dress Cameron appropriately. The shorts he is wearing in the following picture aren't so clean anymore despite washing them THREE times! On the 9th Cameron and I went to a birthday party for my co-workers daughter at a place called "Bouncin' Off the Walls." Michael was in Nephi for the demolition derby. He was an inspector of the cars and also part of the pit crew. His co-worker Gary had two nephews that had cars in the derby so they were there to help work on them when they broke down. This was his second year helping at the Nephi derby.

This past week I really wanted to do something different with Cameron's room so we did. I had wanted to paint his bed for a LONG time and we finally did it. I also wanted to get him a new dresser. He had been using mine that I used as a teenager and it really took up too much space in his room. I did some searching and finally found one that I liked at Wood Connection Furniture. It was unfinished so we were able to paint it the same black color that we painted his bed. Michael used his automotive paint sprayer to paint the bed and dresser and then I painted on the polyacrylic over the top to protect the pieces. I found a nightstand at Tai-Pan Trading too. If you live in Utah and have not been to Tai-Pan you need to take a trip to one because there are lots of fun things to find there. After the dresser and bed were finished and moved into his room we sort of decided that Cameron needed a new desk and bookshelf since his old ones were beech wood colored. We checked out the IKEA website and found what we wanted and then took a trip out there to pick stuff up. Here is what his new room looks like.I realize now that I never took down his Seattle Seahawks pennant and it looks quite out of place where it still sits. Cameron loves his new room. I asked him when he woke up yesterday if he liked it and he told me he was sad about his room. I asked him what he meant and he said, "You know when people like something so much they cry. That's how I feel." I told him that it doesn't mean he is sad, but rather super-duper happy and he could cry because he was so happy. I think he understood what I was saying.

Well, this has gotten quite long and I have to go meet Michael for lunch so I will try to update more later.

I think Cam's room turned out cute! Great job getting all that painting done!

His room looks really nice!

I've had to deal with waiting in long lines for rides just to have my kids chicken out at the front of the line. Then just like Cameron they feel bad like they let me down. Don't worry Cameron, I wouldn't even go on that ride!
