Parties

Well, Cameron's 8th birthday party went great. He had a great time playing with his friends and riding his scooter around instead of skates. We had 9 boys join us for the fun. I think they all had a great time except for when the games kept eating their tokens. Cameron received lots of fun toys and even some money. The cake was a Optimus Prime transformer cake...I do have a picture, just didn't post it. After the cake Cameron was put into a money machine. The machine blew fake dollars around and he had to try to catch as many as he could. He ended up getting $40 in play money that transfered to 40 tickets to purchase something from the toy area. He ended up getting a blow-up snake sword.

After the party we headed to Liberty Park in SLC for a Carquest Halloween function. We had a lot of fun visiting with everyone. For dinner we had "homemade" chili with sugar donuts. Has anyone ever heard of this combination before? We were told it is a small town Utah thing. You are supposed to dip the donuts in the chili. EEEWWW!

There was a three-legged race that Cameron and I competed in...that hurts! We were in the lead for awhile, but in the end we lost. There should have been a prize for 2nd place!

After the race it was time for the pumpkin carving contest. The knives that we had to use were crap. What do you expect for $5 from Wal-mart? The first one Michael used broke and the second one wasn't much better. Everyone carved some great pumpkins. Gary, the operations manager at Carquest was going to judge, but I had the idea to grab some people walking through the park and have them vote. They liked that idea, it sure made it easier to pick and not have someone mad that you didn't choose them.

Birthday and school

Things have been pretty busy around here with school and work.

Cameron celebrated his 8th birthday on Wednesday. Where does the time go? I started crying when I really thought about how old he is and how precious he is to our family. Despite the fact that Cameron had a busy day on his birthday I think he enjoyed it. The morning started out early with him opening gifts at 6:45 am before Michael had to leave for the rest of the week. I took Cameron to choir at 7:30 then he had school and daycare. I picked him up around 4:15 when I got off work so he could play with some of his new toys before he had to go to school with me at 6:30. Poor kid had to sit through 2 hours of Chemistry on his birthday. When we finally got home around 9:00 he played for a little while longer and then I brought out his surprise little birthday cake I bought. Michael was on the phone with him singing happy birthday before I called him over to see his cake and blow out some candles.

All Cameron had been asking for was a new skateboard and skate shoes. My parents bought him his new skateboard and Michael's mom bought him the shoes he wanted. I think he was happy. We bought him 2 video games, skating helmet and a few toys. He also got a Transformer video game from Michael's dad along with money and gifts cards from other family members.

We are having Cameron's birthday party with friends tomorrow at the Classic Skate Fun Center. He invited 11 boys from his class and so far only 6 have RSPV'd. I have always had kids show up that haven't called first so I made sure I had enough goody bags for everyone that we invited.

Well, my chemistry test that I was freaking out over was worth freaking out over. The entire class got to retake it since the average was a 50%. I was one of those that got the average. Scary! I have NEVER failed a test before this one. However, we got to take it home and do it and this time I only missed 1. So, I got a 96%. MUCH MUCH better. I have another test on Monday and I am totally stressing over it since I absolutely do not get one of the chapters that it is covering. I am getting together today with someone from class so we can try to understand it better. At least we can drop one test score...I would rather do good on all the tests, but I have a bad feeling about this one.

I actually had some time this morning to vacuum and dust my house. Now if only I could find time to clean the bathrooms.

Saucy!

Last Sunday we spent the day preparing applesauce. Michael had picked all the apples off our trees the weekend before and we really needed to do something with them so we made some sauce. I had gone to Bed, Bath & Beyond to purchase a food mill and then came home to start the process. The food mill did not work like it was supposed to so I ran back to the store and bought a food processor. This worked MUCH MUCH nicer and faster. I never thought I would own a food processor. We had gone 11 years without owning one, but now we have one we can use next year when we make more applesauce.

Most of the apples from the tree. We did give one bag away before this picture. The handy dandy Pampered Chef Apple/Peeler/Corer w/stand.The peeled apples undergoing their coring and chopping.Michael peeling more apples. Sure did make a mess of the kitchen!
14 quarts of applesauce ready to be eaten!

We ended up having another bag of apples to donate. We were tired of peeling, coring and chopping and processing the apples so we stopped.

I took my anatomy lab midterm on Tuesday and went to school on Friday to get my grade. I got a 97%! That means I missed two questions. I am pretty sure I know which ones I missed too. I took my Chemistry test last Wednesday and will not have the results of that one until Monday night. However, I don't even want to see what I got on that one. I am pretty sure I failed it. That was the hardest freaking test I have ever taken. I was there from the time it started until she told us to hand in our tests...there were 3 of us left at that point. I am never there a full 2 hours to take a test. There were 5 questions I flat out guessed on. If I only miss those 5 I will only have a 69%. There were only 26 questions on the test so that makes it tough to miss more than 2 and still get an A.

Well, off to study for an anatomy test that I get to take on Tuesday. I still need to read two of the chapters. YIKES!

Here I am

Not too often is there a picture of me on this blog. I just chopped my hair and had is colored yesterday. This isn't the greatest picture as I just took it with my computer, but hey, it's a picture.

I got my second chemistry test back and got a 95%. I have another test on Wednesday and seriously doubt I will get a good grade since I am totally NOT understanding this chapter. However, I am going to give myself some time to study it and see if I can start to get it.

I have my anatomy lab midterm on Tuesday and that has been consuming all of my time even my sleep. I woke up yesterday and the word lateralis came out of my mouth. I tried to figure out where that word came from and it wasn't until I was at the library with a study group and mentioned it did I realize that it is a muscle in the thigh called the vastus lateralis. Funny how your mind works when you sleep.

Well, off to do some studying. It is 3:20 and I haven't even cracked a book yet today. I just finished watching Grey's Anatomy online since our DVR didn't record it all for some reason. Really irked me when I sat down to watch it on Friday.
